Laredo Lemurs News Release
Fargo, ND - The Fargo Moorhead RedHawks (62-33) starting pitcher Aaron Shafer (10-5) comes out firing as he shuts down the Laredo Lemurs (51-44) offense giving up only one run as the RedHawks go on to win 11-1 on Wednesday night in Fargo, North Dakota.
The Lemurs only run off of Shafer came in the third innings with Stephen Douglas turning on fastball and sending it over the right field wall. Otherwise Shafer was dominate over the Lemurs as he went six complete, giving up seven hits, one run, a walk and four strikeouts.
The Lemurs most dominating starter Matt Way (10-7) had an off night as he only went two and two thirds, giving up six runs, on seven hits, with two walks, and four strikeouts. The two and two thirds is his shortest start of the season for Way and his seventh loss this year.
The RedHawks broke through in the third against Way scoring five runs on six hits. Nic Jackson had a big night for the Redhawks as he picked two hits and three RBI's. Eric Campbell had the only homerun on the night as helped the RedHawks take a 1-0 lead in the second.
Offensively for the Lemurs, Stephen Douglas had a good night at the top of the lineup picking up three hits in five at bats with a homerun. Jimmy Mojica and John Allen also stayed steady as they both grabbed two hits in the game.
With the loss the Lemurs put the brakes on their 11 game winning streak, which will stand as the longest in team history. The Grand Prairie Airhogs also lost tonight, so the Lemurs will stay two and a half games up in the American Association South. The Lemurs have five games to play and the Airhogs have four.
The Laredo Lemurs will wrap up the regular season on the road with a trip to Fargo, North Dakota and Gary, Indian. Keep your eye open for Lemurs playoff information.
