Seattle Thunderbirds News Release

KENT - Seattle general manager Bil La Forge announced today the team has acquired the rights to forward Gracyn Sawchyn from the Red Deer Rebels in exchange for a future conditional second-round WHL Draft pick.

"We have added a potential key piece to our future," said La Forge. "Gracyn is a very skilled player we hope to recruit. We believe our successful development program will help Gracyn achieve his hockey and education goals while also developing and maturing as a young man."

This past season Sawchyn played for the Shattuck St. Mary's 16U team and had 14 goals and 46 assists for 60 points in 47 games.

Sawchyn, who grew up in Edmonton and moved to Minnesota four years ago with his family, was the first overall pick in the 2020 U.S. Prospects Draft by Red Deer on March 25, 2020. In the 2019-20 season Sawchyn played for the Shattuck St. Mary's 14U team and had 32 goals and 51 assists for 83 points in 54 games.
