SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse Silver Knights (1-1, Eastern Division #3) won their home opener against the Waza Flo (2-2, Eastern Division #2) on Saturday, earning two-goal performances from Nate Bourdeau, Slavisa Ubiparipovic and Kenardo Forbes.
"We moved the ball well and found the target earlier," Captain Bo Jelovac explained. "We finished our chances, which was the difference from last week."
The Silver Knights out scored the Waza Flo 5-2 in the second half en route to the victory.
The Syracuse defense maintained the result with a pivotal penalty kill in the fourth quarter. Bryan O'Quinn registered three of his 23 saves in the 2:00 streak to ensure the victory.
"It takes a little time to get into the game," O'Quinn said. "I got locked in and we got a good result."
First-year-Knights Garrett Losee and JJ Gibson tallied scores in their home debuts.
The Orange, Silver and Black move to 5-0 all-time in home openers.
The Salt City club will move to inter-division play next Saturday when the Silver Knights host the Dallas Sidekicks of the Pacific Division on "Joe Papaleo Night" at the War Memorial.
