Sporting Kansas City II News Release
(July 8, 2016) - The Swope Park Rangers hit the road this weekend when they travel to take on Arizona United SC at the Peoria Sports Complex in Peoria, Ariz. on Saturday, July 9. Kickoff is set for 9:30 p.m. CT and the game will be available via live stream on SportingKC.com.
The Rangers enter the weekend on the back of two consecutive victories, claiming a 1-0 win over Saint Louis FC last Saturday after topping Seattle 2-0 in their last road game on June 26 - which brought SPR's road record to 2-5-2. The Rangers have gone 6-7-2 (20 pts.) this season and sit just one point outside the top eight Playoff spots at the midway point of the season.
On Saturday, Tyler Pasher scored what proved to be the game-winning goal just 65 seconds into the contest, before both sides endured a one hour and 38 minute weather delay late in the first half. SPR absorbed heavy pressure from Saint Louis in the second period but held on to claim their first two-game winning streak since the first two games of the season.
Arizona United SC have gone 4-6-5 (17 pts.) this season and sit in 13th place in the USL Western Conference. AZU are winless in their last three games, having gone 0-1-2 since their last victory on June 18 against Saint Louis FC. After playing their first five games on the road, Arizona has gone 2-1-3 at the Peoria Sports Complex in 2016.
In their last outing, Arizona fell 3-2 to Tulsa Roughnecks FC at ONEOK Field on July 1. Sammy Ochoa and Bryce Taylor put Tulsa 2-0 up before Long Tan pulled a goal back for the visitors. Tulsa's Cristian Mata made the score 3-1 just before halftime before Tan added a second after the break to make the final score 3-2.
The Swope Park Rangers have a quick turnaround following Saturday's game as they return home to host OKC Energy FC at Swope Soccer Village on Tuesday, July 12. The Rangers will celebrate Faith and Family Night at that game, which will include $1 hot dogs and the third installment of the commemorative poster series.
