
Sweets Win the Final Game of the Season in Kelowna

KELOWNA, BC- The Walla Walla Sweets (30-24) took the last game of the season 7-3 over the Kelowna Falcons (25-29) on Sunday.
The Sweets put up five runs in the third inning to take the lead. Nick Nyquist (Gonzaga) singled home two runs to start off the scoring. The next two runs came across on a double suicide squeeze put down by Coby Kauhaahaa (Cal State Fullerton). Zach Weisz (Cal State Fullerton) smashed a single up the middle to score Connor Doyle (San Diego) later in the inning.
After the Falcons put up a run in the third, fourth and the fifth, the Sweets tacked on with two more in the seventh. Griffin Mazur (UC Irvine) put down a suicide squeeze to score the first run and Jordan Myrow (UCLA) scored the second run with a sacrifice fly.
Nick Scheidler (UCLA) picked up the win for the Sweets.
Willie MacIver (Washington) played all nine positions during the game. He started at first, then moved to second, third, shortstop, left field, center field, right field, pitcher, back to third and then to catcher in the ninth. With the exception of pitcher, where he pitched to two batters without recording an out, he played an inning at every position.
That game concluded the 2016 season for the Sweets. They finished 15-12 in both the first and second halves.
