
Sweets Take Crazy Offensive Game over Falcons

KELOWNA, BC- The Walla Walla Sweets (29-24) downed the Kelowna Falcons (25-28) 10-6 on Saturday night.
The Sweets received an RBI double from Nick Nyquist (Gonzaga) in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead.
Ben Baird (Washington) then crushed his first home run of the season in the second. The two-run shot gave the Sweets a 3-0 lead.
The Sweets took a 4-0 lead in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Nick Vigo (Cal State Monterey Bay).
After the Falcons put up a run in the seventh, the Sweets answered with six in the top of the eighth. Baird ripped an RBI double to start the scoring in the frame and Connor Doyle reached on an error on a suicide squeeze that scored two runs. Jordan Myrow (UCLA) singled home a run and Willie MacIver (Washington) laced a double to score a run the next batter.
The Falcons made it interesting with five runs in the bottom of the eighth, but the Sweets hung on to win 10-6.
Ryan Anderson (Nevada) picked up his fourth win (4-1) on the season by throwing five shutout innings with four strikeouts.
The Sweets and the Falcons will play their final game of the season at 6:05 P.M. tomorrow. Walla Walla will send Bobby Ay (Cal Poly SLO) to the hill for the starts.
