Walla Walla Sweets News Release

Walla Walla, WASH- The Walla Walla Sweets (20-16) took a wild game three of the series 3-2 over the Corvallis Knights (20-13). The win gives the Sweets the series win at 2-1.

The Knights struck first in the third inning with two unearned runs off of starter Chris Murphy (San Diego), who only lasted two and two thirds innings.

The Sweets scored in the sixth on an error hit to third by Hayden Duer (Cal State Monterey Bay) that scored Willie MacIver (Washington).

They added another run in the seventh to tie the game on an RBI base hit by MacIver and then took the lead in the eighth on an error by the first baseman that scored Jordan Myrow (UCLA).

The Sweets' bullpen was the star in this one. Nick Scheidler (UCLA) relived Murphy and threw three and a third innings, only giving up one hit. Then it was Billy Dimlow (Emory) and Grant Ford (Nevada) who combined for scoreless seventh and eighth innings before Justin Bruihl (Cal Poly) locked down his fourth save of the year in the ninth.

The Sweets are now 10-5 in one-run games and 8-3 in game threes of a series.

Walla Walla heads up to Bellingham next for a key series with the Bells over the weekend before the All-Star Break. All-Star Easton Lucas (Pepperdine) will take the ball for the Sweets in game one.
