
Sweets Take Series Behind Stellar Pitching

GRESHAM, OR- The Walla Walla Sweets (17-13) shutout the Gresham GreyWolves (11-16) 4-0 in game three. The win gave the Sweets the series with at 2-1 and they are now 3-1 in rubber games this season.
The Sweets did not find the scoreboard until the seventh when Nick Nyquist (Gonzaga) put down a suicide squeeze to score Willie MacIver (Washington). Nyquist reached on the bunt and came around to score on an RBI single by Connor Doyle (San Diego). Zach Weisz (Cal State Fullerton) then put the Sweets up 3-0 with a sacrifice fly in the same inning.
Walla Walla tacked on with a run in the ninth on an RBI double by Nyquist.
After giving up 10 runs to the GreyWolves in game two, the Sweets' pitching staff shut them down in game three. Ryan Anderson (Nevada) picked up the win, going six and two thirds scoreless innings. Nick Vigo (Cal State Monterey Bay) fired and inning and a third of scoreless relief and Justin Bruihl (Cal Poly), who gave up the walk-off hit in game two, pitched a scoreless ninth inning.
The Sweets head out to Bend tomorrow for three with the Elks. This is the last series in a 15-straight game stretch for the Sweets. Bobby Ay (Cal Poly) will take the mound in Bend for the Sweets in game one.
