Sweets Take Game Three Behind Late Insurance Runs

WALLA WALLA, WASH- The Walla Walla Sweets (28-23) sent the fans out happy with a 7-3 win over the Wenatchee Applesox (18-33) in the final home game of the season on Thursday night.

The Sweets scored first in the bottom of the first on an RBI double by Willie MacIver (Washington).

They added on with two runs in the third on a Jarren Duran (Long Beach State) RBI single and a run also scored on a double play.

Jordan Myrow (UCLA) launched his first home run of the season in the fifth to make it 4-0 Walla Walla.

After Wenatchee scored three runs in the seventh, the Sweets added three runs of insurance in the eighth. Nick Vigo (Cal State Monterey Bay) knocked in the first run on an RBI single. MacIver then pulled his second RBI double of the game, and fourth of the series, down the third base line. Nick Nyquist (Gonzaga) knocked MacIver in on a fielder's choice.

Kyle Narahara (Cal State Monterey Bay) picked up the five out save, his 11th of the season. Chris Murphy (San Diego) struck out nine in his start to pick up the win.

The Sweets head to Kelowna tomorrow to take on the Falcons. Jackson Weeg (Emory) will get the start for the Sweets.
