Bremerton, WASH - The Walla Walla Sweets (10-8) completed the sweep against the Kitsap BlueJackets (6-12) with an odd 10-3 win on Thursday night. The game was delayed twice. Once by rain in the eighth and once by the field lights shutting off in the ninth inning.
The BlueJackets jumped out in front with two in the second inning, but the Sweets countered with three in the fifth to take the lead.
Both teams traded a run in the seventh, but the Sweets then exploded for six runs in the top of the eighth to take a 10-3 lead. It was a season high for the Sweets in runs and hits with 14.
Jackson Weeg (Emory) got the start and the win for the Sweets to improve to 3-0 on the year. He went six innings, just giving up two runs and striking out six.
Connor Doyle (San Diego) went 4-4 and reached base five times. Patrick Chung (Gonzaga) went 3-3 and also reached five times. Zach Weisz (Cal State Fullerton) picked up three RBIs in the win.
