Walla Walla, WASH- The Walla Walla Sweets (19-15) took game one of the series against the Corvallis Knights (19-12) 3-0 with a walk-off double by Coby Kauhaahaa (Cal State Fullerton).

The Sweets and the Knights were knotted in a pitcher's duel until the ninth inning. A single by Ryan Johnston (UC Irvine) started the bizarre inning, and a two base error by the pitcher on a pick-off attempt moved him to third. There were then two intentional walks to fill the bases.

After a strikeout, Kauhaahaa sent the first pitch he saw over the wall in left for what appeared to be a game-winning grand slam, but Walla Walla over celebrated and a player out of the dugout contacted Kauhaahaa on the base path before he was able to reach home. That led to a three-run double instead of the home run, but the Sweets still won 3-0.

Bobby Ay (Cal Poly) was in All-Star form in his seven innings. He struck out five and just allowed two hits. His Cal Poly teammate, Justin Bruihl, picked up the win with two scoreless innings in the eighth and ninth.

The Sweets will go for the series win tomorrow against Corvallis. First pitch is slated for 7:05 P.M.
