Greensboro Swarm News Release
(GREENSBORO, NC) -After a three-point play by Anthony Duruji and a free throw by Kobi Simmons, the Swarm sealed a nail-biting win against the Raptors 905. The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, defeated Raptors 905 (Toronto Raptors affiliate) in the first game of two for the weekend by the score of 118-116. Improving the Swarm's record to 11-20 while Raptors 905 fell to 15-16.
Raptors 905 took control of the game early in the first quarter while being led by Ron Harper Jr. (14 points) and Gabe Brown (10 points) respectively. The 905 were able to hold the lead eight times before the Swarm narrowed the gap to two going into the second quarter.
The game continued going back and forth seeing a total of 11 lead changes. The 905 saw Harper Jr., Brown, and Kylor Kelley account for 49 of the team's points 59 first half points. However, the Swarm took a two-point lead into the second half. Greensboro was led by Kobi Simmons, the team's new all-time leading scorer, who finished the half with 23 points.
Ron Harper Jr. led the way for the 905 with 29 points, nine rebounds, nine assists. While Kelley had a career-high 20 points, 11 rebounds and three assists. David Johnson and Gabe Brown added 22 and 20 points respectively.
Simmons finished with a new regular season high 33 points to lead the Swarm. Other top performers for Greensboro included: Trevon Scott (24 points), Xavier Sneed (16 points) and Jaylen Sims (14 points).
