DETROIT - In front of Motor City's first sellout crowd in franchise history, Coach Bakker and the Motor City Cruise were looking to win their fourth straight game. Today, the Motor City Cruise won back-to-back games over Greensboro, with a score of 123-119. This is the first time this season the Cruise have won four straight games.
Greensboro got off to a hot start after leading by 10 points to end the first (30-20). The game stayed as a back-and-forth contest, after the second quarter. However, the Swarm kept their lead with a score of 60-53. After the first half of action, Kobi Simmons and Ashton Hagans led the Swarm with 11 points, as Jalen Crutcher followed up with 10. For Motor City, Kyler Edwards led the way with 15 points. He shot 3-6 beyond the arc to end the half.
Motor City cruised on an 8-0 run in the middle of the third to take their first lead of the game. Kyler Edwards hit a buzzer-beater three-point shot to extend the Cruise lead, ending the third quarter. Motor City now had a 90-85 lead entering the fourth. The Swarm opened the fourth quarter on a 12-4 run. However, Buddy Boeheim and Jaylen Johnson would put the Swarm away as a response. Boeheim shot 3-4 beyond the arc in the fourth quarter alone, as Jalen scored 10 out of his 20 points total, leading the Cruise to their win.
Buddy Boeheim had a season high of 26 points in today's game. He shot 9-13 from the floor and went 6-10 beyond the arc. Kyler Edwards followed up with 23, as ShawnDre Jones dropped a total of 22 points.
Kobi Simmons scored 30 points to lead the Swarm. Simmons shot 11-20 from the floor (5-10 beyond the arc). Jalen Crutcher followed up with 23 points. Lastly, Isaiah Whaley secured a double-double, scoring 13 points and grabbing 13 rebounds.
The Motor City Cruise improved to 9-11 and the Greensboro Swarm fell to 7-12. The Motor City Cruise will travel to Delaware to take on the Blue Coats, February 22nd at the Chase Fieldhouse (Wilmington, Delaware). Tip-off is slated for 7:00pm EST. The game can be seen at https://gleague.nba.com/.
