Swarm Double Header Weekend Starts with San Diego Seals

DULUTH, GA - After winning a close 12-11 game against Rochester on February 10th and taking a bye week, the Swarm will play a doubleheader this weekend in San Diego, CA and Fort Worth, TX.

On Friday at 11 PM EST, the Swarm will be playing against the San Diego Seals on ESPNU. This will be the second time these two teams meet. The first time they played was on April 5, 2019, in Georgia. The Swarm had come off a bye week to face the San Diego Seals, who were in their first season in the NLL. The Swarm won the game 17-10, which was their 5th consecutive win, tying them in first place in their division. Swarm players, Miles Thompson and Shayne Jackson, had hat tricks that night. The team also scored three shorthanded goals, all in the fourth quarter.

Looking ahead to the opposing team, the Seals' four game winning streak ended with a defeat against the New York Riptide (10-8) on February 10, 2024. However, the team returns from its bye week with a renewed sense of purpose and determination to reclaim its dominant position atop the NLL standings. The offense is led by the formidable duo of Wesley Berg and Austin Statts, both of whom have accumulated 54 points. Additionally, Chris Origlieri, the team's young goalie, has been performing well and saving 80% of shots at net.

The Swarm have won two consecutive games with clutch shots from Andrew Kew, who was recently named the clutch king. After returning from their bye week, the Swarm aims to maintain their high level of momentum as the team is ranked 5th in the NLL. This season, the Swarm are averaging 11 goals per game with the offensive big three players being Lyle Thompson (25G, 24A), Shayne Jackson (17G, 31A), and Andrew Kew (20G, 30A). If these three players are not scoring, Swarm players Seth Oakes and Bryan Cole step up to take crucial shots. On the defensive end, Adam Wiedemann who is a potential candidate for defensive player of the year continues to lead the league in blocked shots (15). The defensive front have blocked 65 shots, caused 103 turnovers and picked up 679 loose balls.

Following Friday's match, the Swarm will travel to Fort Worth to face Panther City for the second time this season, with the game scheduled for Sunday at 4 PM EST.
