Will Gilbert started on the mound for the Sharks (3-5) and produced another solid outing. Gilbert retired the first eight batters he faced before Kam Stewart singled, becoming the first base runner for Fayetteville (5-3). The game progressed smoothly for Gilbert until the sixth inning, when he found himself in trouble. Stewart led off the sixth with a walk, and stole second while Jason Blum was in the batter's box. Stewart stole second before Blum reached base on a Steven Linkous error at third base, putting runners on the corners with no men out.

The SwampDogs were not going to forget what Wilmington did to them at Buck Hardee Field on Tuesday night - Rayne Raven brought a 4-0 lead and a no-hitter into the 7th, which was broken open by Foy. The Sharks went on to pick up four quick scores in the eighth inning to steal a win.

David LeFleur dug in from the right side, and knocked the third pitch of his at bat in the sixth inning into deep right-center field, clearing the bases. These runs were the first of five in the inning.

Offensively for the Sharks, things were much of the same. Starting slowly and striking out often has been a familiar trend for Wilmington. The six strike outs in the contest raise the total to 80 on the season - the second most in the Coastal Plain League. The lone run for the Sharks came in the sixth inning. Steven Linkous walked, stole second and third, and scored on Nate Moorhouse's backside grounder.

Wilmington has a weekend on the road, at Asheboro (5-4) and at Martinsville (4-5) before returning home Monday, for another game with Fayetteville.
