Keene Swamp Bats News Release
KEENE, N.H. - The Keene SwampBats grab their third win on the young season in a blowout, beating the Winnipesaukee Muskrats by a score of 13-1. Right fielder Joe Breaux (Alabama) and shortstop Erick Delgado (St. Thomas) had big nights offensively. Breaux had two RBIs on three hits in six at bats, including an RBI single to left field in the bottom of the first, scoring Erick Delgado. An error by Winnipesaukee leftfielder Ryan Richard scored Alex Carballo (Kennesaw State) from second, making the score 2-0. Cordell Dunn Jr. (Grayson County College), scoring Brandon Smith and Joe Breaux to make 4-0. Two more runs scored in the bottom of the first, making the score 6-0.
Muskrats' left fielder Ryan Richard made up for his throwing error with an RBI double in the top of the 2nd to make the score 6-1. Joe Breaux hit a solo homerun over the Alumni Field scoreboard in right center field to make the score in the bottom of the second to make it 7-1. That was followed by a bases clearing double by Erick Delgado, scoring Mitchell Golden, Shamir Morales, and Micheal Woodworth. Delgado, Carballo, and Woodworth all had RBI singles in the bottom of the sixth inning, making the score 13-1.
That was all the offense needed, as Evan Sperling (Virginia) went 4 innings, giving up one run on three hits, while striking out seven. Andrew Houde (the winning pitcher), Justin Willis, and Jeff Praml, combined to shutout and no hit the Muskrats. Willis made his first appearance in the NECBL after arriving in Keene from Vanderbilt four hours prior to the game. Winnipesaukee's William Treuel, the losing pitcher, went 2/3 of an inning, giving up six earned runs on three hits.
The SwampBats next game is Wednesday, June 13th against the Sanford Mainers. You can catch that game on 104.1 FM 1220 AM Fox Sports Keene and at necbl.com.
