Keene Swamp Bats News Release
The Swamp Bats defeated the Vermont Mountaineers 9-8 in Montpelier after a two-day rest to extend their win streak to three.
It was a back-and-forth action throughout the evening as the Swamp Bats started off the night with two runs in the top of the 2nd inning including a Shane Matheny RBI single. However the Mountaineers would retaliate in the bottom of the 2nd inning with runs of their own.
Vermont would do a lot of damage and look to take away the game starting with the 3rd inning scoring two runs and then three runs in the 4th. Joe Dudek would have an RBI single in the 3rd inning and then a 2 RBI double in the 4th.
Keene would make things interesting in the 7th inning scoring tow runs including a Garrett Christman RBI and cut the lead to 7-4 but Vermont would once again retaliate with a run of their own in the bottom of the 7th on a Dennis Bermudez RBI double.
However, Keene would score five runs in the top of the 8th inning that included RBI's for Dan Cellucci, Lucas Luopa, and Garrett Christman to take the lead at 9-8 and would keep it at that score for the rest of the game.
Garrett Christman went 3-for-5 including 4 RBI's and Connor Sahlin got the win for the Swamp Bats.
The Swamp Bats improved to 7-16 on the season and are now 6.5 games back behind 1st place. They will host Sanford tomorrow, which will start a two-game home stand.
