Laredo Broncos News Release

Laredo, TX- The Laredo Broncos of the United League announce that the suspended game against the Amarillo Dillas from June 7th, will be restarted before the start of a 3 game series between the two teams on June 20th, at Veterans Field.

The Broncos were winning the baseball game in the top of the 9th inning by a score of 12-11. Arnoldo Ponce was up with a 1-1 count, when the lights at the ballpark went out. The staff at Amarillo tried to get to lights back on, but all attempts were unsuccessful.

The game was officially suspended at that point, with none of the stats counting till the game would be completed. On June 20th, the Broncos and Dillas will finish that game at 7 pm and then play the regularly scheduled game after that. The game will only be a 7 inning game. It will also be a very important game for the team, as they are currently chasing Amarillo for one of the top two spots in the league. Laredo currently is 1 ½ games out of 2nd place and 4 games out of 1st. If the Broncos can take both games, it will help in their effort to clinch a playoff spot. The top two teams that clinch a playoff spot in the first half, will have home field advantage for the first round of the United League playoffs.

The Laredo Broncos finished their second season in 2007. The Broncos will play a 90 game season from May to September with 46 home games at Veterans Field. Season tickets and Sponsorship Packages are on sale in the Laredo Broncos office located at 2200 Santa Maria or you can contact the office at 723-BASE (2273) or on the web at www.laredobroncos.com.
