He was named to the All-Conference Second Team as a punter in 2004, and participated in NFL Europe's Training Camp in 2005 as a Free Agent. In 2006, Grogan made a transition to Wide Receiver in order to make the Manchester Wolves, an Arenafootball2 League final roster.

Grogan grew up watching his father play quarterback for the New England Patriots. The elder Grogan played 16 seasons from 1975 through 1990, and was named to the Patriots Hall of Fame in1995. Roy Lucas, Jr. Founder and President states, "Considering we were up against an established, champion caliber team, our inaugural team held its own. With talent such as Tyler Grogan, Marc Eddy, Cy Butler and the rest of the players, I have confidence we are looking at a championship team."

Head Coach Buffington states, "Though many of the players deserve the MVP for this first game, Tyler Grogan's touch downs in the first half, and third quarter 20-yard reception exemplified the MVP role I expect from all my players for the rest of the season."
