BILOXI -- Dean Moore, just back from loan to the ECHL, connected on the game-winning goal late in the third period to lift the Mississippi Surge to a 2-1 victory over the visiting Huntsville Havoc.
Moore's unassisted, power play goal came at the 16:36 mark and was part of a dynamic push by the Surge to overcome a 1-0 deficit that haunted them more than two periods.
The Havoc put the pressure on early. When Surge goalie Dan Clarke denied a shot by Josh Harris, Nick Lazorko took the rebound and punched it in for a 1-0 lead.
The Surge had six penalty minutes in the first. At the end of the period, Coach Jeff Bes said the team was tired after two weekend road losses against the Louisiana IceGators, the second of which went into overtime.
