Christmas Clash: The Mississippi Surge plays its final game before Christmas tonight, hosting the Huntsville Havoc.

Records: The Surge is 8-9-1 for 17 points tied for sixth place.

Huntsville is 7-11-3 for 17 points tied for sixth place.

Season Series:This is the third of six meetings between these two teams, and Huntsville's third visit to the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. The two teams have split the first two games with the Surge winning 3-0 on October 28th. Huntsville won 4-2 on November 19th. The two teams won't meet again until March 2ndand will play each other three times in March.

Recent Action: Both of these teams are looking to get back on the winning track. The Surge lost 3-2 in overtime to Columbus last Saturday. It was the first overtime loss of the season for the Surge. It was also the third straight game without a win for Mississippi. Huntsville saw a 5-2 lead slip away in the final 11 and a half minutes against Louisiana last Saturday and lost 6-5. It was the fifth straight loss for Huntsville.

Helping Out For Starters: Center Nicolas Petriello made his Surge debut last Saturday and assisted on both goals against Columbus.

Getting Busy: Depending on how you look at it, tonight either ends a lull in the schedule for the Surge or starts a very busy stretch. This is only the second game in the past 13 days. Then staring Monday, the surge will play eight games over the next 13 days.

Twice Is Nice: The Surge is the only team in the SPHL that has scored at least twice in every game this season.

Powerful Stuff: The Surge is 8-for-38 at home on the power play this season for a respectable 21.1 percent, also has the league's second best road power play percentage at 17.8 percent. Overall, the Surge's power play efficiency of 19.3 percent ranks third in the league.

Next Up: The Surge will start that heavy schedule with a road game at Louisiana on Monday. The next home game will be Tuesday against Augusta at 7:05 p.m. Huntsville visits the Mississippi RiverKings on Tuesday.
