Surf To Co-Sponsor Pitch, Hit And Run Contest

Atlantic City, N.J. - The Atlantic City Surf of the Can-Am League and the Knights of Columbus Villa Marie Council will be co-sponsoring Major League Baseball's "Pitch, Hit and Run" Contest, taking place at the Field of Dreams complex at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 26.

The event is a free skills competition that provides boys and girls, ages 7 to 14, the opportunity to showcase their pitching, hitting and running abilities. Winners can advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championship events at the 30 Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the 2008 MLB All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium.

Surf catcher Joe Burke will be appearing at the event, along with the team's mascot, Splash. Surf representatives will also be on hand to distribute information about camps and youth baseball events at Bernie Robbins Stadium this season.

The Field of Dreams complex is located at the Pitney Recreation Park, off of New Jersey Avenue at Morton and 10th Avenue in Absecon. Registration for the event begins at 5:30 p.m. For more information about the event, contact Ray Williams with the Knights of Columbus at (609) 652-0565.

The Atlantic City Surf open their 2008 Can-Am League home schedule on May 26 against the league's newest member, the Ottawa Rapids. Season and single-game tickets are available by calling the Surf ticket office at (609) 344-7873.
