September 25, 2006 - Atlantic League (AtL)
Atlantic City Surf News Release
The Atlantic City Surf open a best-of-3 Atlantic League playoff series at Bernie Robbins Stadium against the Lancaster Barnstormers Tuesday night.
This will be the Surf's fifth trip to the playoffs in its nine-year history. Atlantic City won the inaugural Atlantic League championship in 1998 but has not made it out of the first round since.
The Surf have made the playoffs in each of Jeff Ball's first three seasons as manager and four out of the last six seasons under the direction of Surf vice president of baseball operations Mario Perrucci.
Both managers have announced their respective rotations for the upcoming series.
In game one Ball will throw righthanded ace Lincoln Mikkselen, who will bring a 15-4 record and 1.85 ERA into the contest. Lancaster's Tommy Herr will counter with Denny Harriger, 17-4, 2.63 ERA.
In game two it will be Atlantic City's Andy High, 7-7, 3.94 ERA, against Lancaster's Josh Stevens, 2-0, 2.63 ERA.
Game three, if neccesary, will feature Atlantic City's Mark Persails, 7-5, 3.43 ERA; against Lancaster's Brian Whitaker, 12-7, 4.98 ERA.
Both game two and three will be played at Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster, Pa.
