
Surf Deflate Ducks Title Hopes

The Atlantic City Surf defeated the Long Island Ducks 7-4 before 1525 at Sandcastle Stadium Friday night. The loss left the Ducks two games behind the Bridgeport Bluefish in the race for the first-half championship in the North Division of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball.
The Surf got three RBIs from Chad Gambill and two more from Jose Velasquez to down the Ducks for ths sixth time in nine attempts this season. Trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth the Surf took the lead for good on a three-rum opposite field homer to right by Chad Gambill. The gutty Gambill was playing with a pulled hamstrung muscle in his leg. The Surf also got a big night from Keith Gordon who was 3-for-4 with an RBI.
The Surf are now 3-2 under manager Mitch Williams. Brian Williams pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed four runs on seven hits to get his third victory. Craig Mattson got his 10th save for Atlantic City.
