San Diego Surf Dawgs News Release

SAN DIEGO - The Surf Dawgs held their inaugural Scooper Bowl at Tony Gwynn Stadium and it has been a rousing success, raising over $2,000 dollars over the course of the last homestand. Fans were able to purchase a wristband for $5 that allowed them to eat as much ice cream as they wanted during that particular game with all the money benefiting Fresh Start Surgical Gifts.

The ice cream was generously donated by Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream and with the recent success of the Scooper Bowl they have decided to continue to donate ice cream to keep the Scooper Bowl running through the next homestand (August 11-13).

Fresh Start Surgical Gifts provides free reconstructive surgery to disadvantaged children and young people who were born with physical deformities caused by birth defects, disease, or accidents. The surgery weekend takes place here in San Diego with specialists, as well as patients, being flown in from around the world to complete the surgery and rehabilitation. Earlier in the season the Surf Dawgs held a celebrity softball game with half of the ticket sales from the game going directly to Fresh Start.

San Diego will return home this Friday, August 11 for a three-game series with the Fullerton Flyers beginning at 7:05 p.m. PT. For more information on how to get involved or help out with Fresh Start, visit http://www.freshstart.org/
