Fullerton Flyers to host "juice box night" in honor of Jose Canseco visit

Orange County Flyers News Release

FULLERTON, CA: The Fullerton Flyers announced Monday that this coming Thursday, August 10, will be "Juice Box Night" at Goodwin Field. The first 500 fans through the gate will receive a free box of juice, courtesy of the Flyers.

The promotion is poking fun at the recent book "Juiced" by Jose Canseco (currently a member of the GBL's Long Beach Armada), which is an account of the former Slugger's experience with steroid use. The use of steroids by athletes has come to be known as "juicing up", thus the book title and the Flyers' promotion. However, the Flyers are also using this promotion as a way to educate their fans on the negative results of steroid, and other drug, abuse.

"While the use of steroids, and other illegal drugs, is obviously a very serious matter", stated Flyers General Manager Ed Hart, "we also recognize that there are ways to have fun with a serious situation. We also see this as a great way to educate our fans, especially children, on the negative repercussions of illegal substance abuse of any kind."

All 500 juice boxes will have an educational flier attached which discusses the ill effects of steroid use.

The Golden Baseball League has adapted the toughest standards in sports on illegal substance abuse.
