Orange County Flyers News Release
The Fullerton Flyers posted a shutout for the second consecutive game at Goodwin Field behind a dominant start from Chris Jakubauskas. Jakubauskas gave up just four hits and two walks, while striking out a season high nine batters. He faced just three batters over the minimum to earn his sixth win.
The Flyers took an early lead when Garry Templeton II doubled to start the 1st inning. He scored on a Jesse Schmidt groundball.
Trevor Hall hit his first of two doubles in the 4th inning. He came around to score on a Buddy Morales sacrifice fly.
Peanut Williams drove in his league-leading 61st run in the 5th inning. Bret Levier scored on Peanut's knock to put the Flyers up 3-0.
Ryan Claypool gave up 11 hits for Long Beach, but survived through seven innings due to some bad Flyers baserunning.
Jose Canseco struck out three times in his return to the Long Beach lineup.
Ryan Webb was the only Armada player to have a multi-hit game.
Todd Gelatka will try and continue the Flyers momentum when he takes to the mound Tuesday night. The Flyers are now within two and a half games of first place Chico.
