September 10, 2008 - Canadian Football League (CFL) News Release

Hamilton, ON - (September 10) - The Canadian Football Hall of Fame Dinner has landed their most valuable commodities: The Queen's representative and a superstar quarterback.

Doug Flutie has confirmed he'll attend the dinner and induction ceremony on Saturday, September 20, along with fellow inductees John Bonk, Mike "Pinball" Clemons, Mike Pringle and Builder Tom Shepherd.

The Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, has confirmed his attendance at this monumental dinner celebrating the finest in Canadian football.

"We're excited that one of the greatest classes in the history of the Hall will come together for what promises to be a wonderful evening," said Mark DeNobile, executive-director of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.

Dinner tickets have been selling briskly. But they are still available, at a cost of $125 per person or $1250 a table. The evening begins with a reception at 5:30, followed by dinner at 6:30. All proceeds are invested in the Canadian Football Hall of Fame which, as a charitable organization, makes tax receipts available to all attendees.

"The class of 2008 epitomizes the excitement on the field, and the community service beyond the sidelines, that makes our league such an important part of our country," CFL Commissioner Mark Cohon said.

"The dinner promises to be a wonderful celebration of what these talented individuals have meant to our game, and what our game means to our country."

The weekend also showcases the Friday night Canadian Football League game September 19 between the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Ivor Wynne Stadium, where this year's inductees will be honoured at half-time.

The September 18 golf tournament is already sold out.
