Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - In a continuing effort to provide the most information and fan services available, the Jacksonville Suns announced today the release of a new team website at www.jaxsuns.com.
While the address remains the same, the new design and features of the Suns online presence shows a significant improvement. The Suns worked with MLB Advanced Media (MLBAM), a service of Major League Baseball, to create the new and improved website.
Along with the features fans remember from the old Suns website, the new site provides a more colorful and attractive design, the ability to purchase season tickets and ticket packages online, a new and improved promotional calendar, better player stats, more overall baseball information and a much improved online souvenir store. The same online ticket system fans utilized for the past few years will still be in place.
"Our website was long overdue for an improvement and after a lot of work and thought by our staff, we have a site that we are truly proud of and our fans should be excited about," said Suns General Manager Kirk Goodman. "Working with BAM has been great and we are anxious to continue to improve the features and services offered online."
Features that will be added shortly include an online catering menu for skyboxes, multimedia features including archived audio and video, an online employment application, fan polls, surveys and a new Suns online newsletter.
The Jacksonville Suns are the Double-A Affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers and a member of the Southern League of Professional Baseball. The Suns open the 2007 season at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville on April 5, 2007 against the Tennessee Smokies, the Double-A Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs.
In January of 2005, MLB Advanced Media (MLBAM) and the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues (NAPBL), better know as Minor League Baseball, announced a major partnership agreement making MLBAM the exclusive provider of internet related services for the Minor Leagues. The 10-year online agreement, which began with the 2005 season, makes MLBAM exclusively responsible for the development, operation and maintenance of the official Minor League site, the websites for each of the NAPBL leagues and the websites for the NAPBL teams that elect to participate in the new website network. Currently BAM hosts and maintains the sites for over 50 Minor League teams and Leagues. In addition, MLBAM has been selected as the official statistician for Minor League Baseball.
