JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Mobile BayBears (43-59, 14-18) and Jacksonville Suns (48-55, 15-18) split a Thursday night doubleheader, with Mobile taking game one by the final score of 4-3 and Jacksonville coming away with an 8-3 victory in game two in front of 8,922 at the Baseball Grounds.

The Suns lead the current series against Mobile two games to one and lead the season series ten games to seven.

In game one, Mobile scored all four runs off homeruns, including a first inning solo homerun from Gerardo Parra, third inning, two-run homerun from Chris Rahl and sixth inning leadoff homerun from Javier Brito.

The first two BayBears homerun came against Suns southpaw James Adkins in his Double-A debut. The supplemental first round pick in 2007 lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs, four hits and three walks with three strikeouts.

Jacksonville scattered three runs against two Mobile pitchers. Jamie Hoffmann plated a run with a third inning fielder's choice while Russell Mitchell belted a sixth inning, solo homerun, his first homerun since a two homerun game on June 9. Both runs came against Mobile starter Tony Barnette, who lasted six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with one walk and four strikeouts.

The Suns added a third run in the seventh inning on an Ivan DeJesus, Jr. sacrifice fly for a 4-3 score. After the run scored, Ryan Rogowski was ruled out at third base for the final out of the game, inciting a riotous argument from Suns manager John Shoemaker. Shoemaker suffered his second ejection of the season.

Barnette (6-7) picked up the win for Mobile while James Adkins (0-1) fell in the loss for Jacksonville. Abe Woody (2) gave up the seventh inning run but saved the game for the BayBears.

Game two started with a bang for Jacksonville as Ryan Rogowski belted a solo homerun, his first in Double-A, followed later by a two-run blast from Juan Gonzalez (13) for a 3-0 advantage against Mobile starter Hector Ambriz.

Suns starter James McDonald gave up two runs in the third inning on a bases loaded double from Bryan Byrne, cutting the Suns lead to 3-2. McDonald lasted five innings allowing two runs, three hits and a season-high five walks with three strikeouts.

Jacksonville's Juan Gonzalez drove in his third run of the game in the third inning on a fielder's choice for a 4-2 Suns lead. Mobile starter Hector Ambriz lasted three innings with four runs, five hits, one walk and four strikeouts.

The Suns added three runs in the fourth inning as James Tomlin doubled with the bases loaded, batting after an intentional walk of Ryan Rogowski, opening a 7-2 lead. Adolfo Gonzalez doubled home Russell Mitchell in the fifth inning for an 8-2 advantage.

Mobile finished the scoring in the seventh inning on a Gerardo Parra single to plate Yunesky Sanchez for an 8-3 final.

James McDonald (5-2) picked up the win for the Suns while Hector Ambriz (5-12) fell in the loss for Mobile.
