February 9, 2013 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Rapid City Rush News Release
(Rapid City, SD) - The Rapid City Rush took the ice in front of a sold out Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Saturday night in a rematch versus the Arizona Sundogs. The Sundogs racked up four goals with the loan Rush tally coming from team captain Scott Wray as the Rush fell 4-1. The Rush are back in action Tuesday, February 12th as the Wichita Thunder come to town for the last time this regular season. Tickets available at gotmine.com or by calling 716-7825.
The Sundogs would be the first to draw blood in the first period as Paul Kurceba tallied his first goal of the season following a collision with Rush goaltender Tim Boron, who would eventually leave the ice for the remainder of the game.
Derek LeBlanc kept things rolling for the Sundogs with a wrap around goal 9:20 into the second period. With only 54 seconds remaining, Scott Wray skated down the middle slot lifting the puck top shelf to cut the lead in half by second intermission.
Just 5:01 into the third, Chad Nehring would capitalize on an early Rush penalty, notching a power play goal to extend the Sundogs lead. Adam Smyth sealed the game with an empty net goal to lift Arizona to a 4-1 win.
