Allen Americans News Release

Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans erupted for three goals in the third period on their way to a 5-1 win over the Missouri Mavericks at Allen Event Center. The victory ended the Americans seven-game home losing streak.

Jamie Schaafsma opened the scoring for the Americans in the first, following up a rebound in front of the Missouri net for his 16th goal of the season and 400th career point. Anthony Maiani and Mike Montgomery drew the assists. Allen would grab a 2-0 lead just over four and a half minutes later, when Kale Kerbashian ripped one past the Missouri goaltender from the blue-line for his 5th of the season. The Mavericks would cut the Allen lead in half later in the period, when Mavericks forward Andrew Courtney found Sebastian Thinel open in the slot for his 20th goal of the season. Allen led 2-1 after 20 minutes of play.

After a scoreless second period, the Americans would score three times in the third, highlighted by an Adam Pineault shorthanded goal set up by Jarret Lukin. Lukin dove for the loose puck and tipped it to Pineault who broke in all alone on the left side, firing one past Missouri goaltender Mathieu Corbeil. Jason Deitsch and Kale Kerbashian also scored in the third, as Allen ended its seven-game losing streak.

With the Allen win and Wichita's shootout loss to Tulsa, the Americans now have a three point lead over the second place Thunder, setting up the big match-up Saturday night in Wichita. Puck drop is 7:05 pm.
