PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Arizona Sundogs of the Central Hockey League announced today the team will honor player/assistant coach Chris Bartolone on Wednesday, Dec. 16 in celebration of the veteran defenseman reaching the major career milestone of 1,000 pro games played.

Bartolone, scheduled to play in his 1,000th pro game on Sunday, Dec. 13 as the team visits the Tulsa Oilers at the BOK Center, will be recognized during a special pre-game ceremony on December 16 as the team returns to Tim's Toyota Center to host the Odessa Jackalopes.

"He's still one of the smartest and most productive defensemen in the league," said Arizona Sundogs Head Coach and General Manager Marco Pietroniro. "He's the complete professional. He's been a leader both on and off the ice as team captain and has showcased his knowledge and skill this season as player/assistant coach."

The Clinton Township, Michigan, native entered the 2009-10 season with 977 career games under his belt totaling 254 goals and 523 assists.

Bartolone has appeared in 240 total games with Arizona to date recording 53 goals and 167 assists. Appearing in all 20 Sundogs games this season, the 19-year-pro has extended his consecutive CHL regular season games streak to 212 contests.

The 39-year-old averaged nearly a point-per-game in his first three seasons with the Sundogs, tallying 178 points (42g/136a) in 192 regular season games. In 28 playoff contests, Bartolone has matched a point-per-game average, registering 28 points (7g/21a).

During the 2008-09 campaign, Bartolone finished tied-for-fourth in scoring among CHL defensemen with 52 points (11g/41a) in 64 appearances and helped guide the Sundogs to their first-ever Ray Miron President's Cup title during the 2008 playoffs, finishing first among defensemen in scoring and fourth overall with 19 points (5g/14a) in 17 games.

During the Sundogs' inaugural season, the 5-foot-11, 190-pound blue-liner finished second among defensemen in scoring and set career-highs in both points (66) and assists (53).

Bartolone owns numerous franchise records having been with the club since its inception. He recorded the first goal in team history on October 20, 2006 in a 6-3 win over the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees and ranks first all-time in games played (240), assists (167), points (220) and shots (793) and third all-time in multiple-point games (26).

Bartolone led the team in power play goals in 2006-07 (12) and has twice led the team in assists in a single season (2006-07, 2008-09).

Throughout his 19-year playing career, Bartolone has participated in nine World Championships in Italy, Sweden, Austria and Finland, played for eight seasons in the German Elite League (DEL) and skated for Team Italy during the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan.

The Sundogs continue a season-long six-game road trip Friday against the Texas Brahmas. Game time is set for 6:05pm. Listen live on KDDL 'Cattle Country' 94.3FM, the Official Radio Home of Arizona Sundogs Hockey, or online at www.cattlecountryradio.com.
