Arizona Sundogs News Release


Arizona (14-5-1, 29 points) heads into the week in a two-way tie for first place in the CHL's Southwest Division with the Odessa Jackalopes (12-5-5). The Sundogs currently own the Southern Conference's best winning percentage (.725).

Sundogs Storylines:

- The Sundogs are 10-1-0 when scoring first this season. Their lone loss when scoring first came during a 4-3 loss at Rio Grande Valley on Dec. 7.

- Arizona's Tyler Redenbach ranks second in CHL scoring with 37 points (9g/28a). Redenbach has a league-best 18-game point streak coming into the week, having tallied at least a point in every game for Arizona this season.

- Alex Leavitt tallied two assists in a 3-0 win at Laredo in his first game back with Arizona since being recalled to San Antonio (AHL) on Nov. 18. He currently owns an 11-game point streak.

- Rookie forwards Mark Kolanos and Dusty Collins rank one-two in rookie scoring this season. Kolanos leads all rookies in goals (12), assists (12) and points (24) and currently owns an 11-game point streak. Collins ranks second with 20 points (8g/12a). Rookies Sean Sullivan, David Schlemko and Jason Visser round out the top 15 in rookie scoring.

- Andrew Gallant (2.45 GAA/.919 SV%) collected his first professional shutout and the Sundogs first shutout of the season in a 3-0 win at Laredo on Dec. 9. The rookie netminder turned away 35 shots in the win.

- Arizona's powerplay ranks second in the CHL (25.55%) behind Colorado (26.85%) and has tallied the most PP goals in the CHL (35).

- The Sundogs penalty kill continues to improve from the beginning of the season. It now ranks 11th (81.58%).
