December 10, 2007 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release

The Central Hockey League announced today that the recipients for the Oakley CHL Player and Goaltender of the Week for the period ending December 9th, 2007 are defenseman Tyler Butler of the Rocky Mountain Rage and goaltender Marco Emond of the Colorado Eagles.

Butler helped lead the Rage to a 3-0 week with strong play in each of the team's games. The Kanata, Ontario native scored four goals and had three assists and was a +7 for Rocky Mountain. On Wednesday, Butler scored a pair of goals, including the game winner, in the Rage's 6-2 win at Wichita. On Friday, he notched a goal and an assist in a shootout victory over Bossier-Shreveport and on Saturday he totaled three points (1-2=3) and a +4 in the Rage's 5-2 victory over Wichita. Butler has points in 16 of Rocky Mountain's 19 games this season and is currently on a 12-game point streak scoring six goals with 11 assists over that stretch. For the season, the veteran is third among defensemen with 23 points (7-16=23).

Emond went 2-0 this past week allowing three goals in a 5-3 victory over Wichita on Friday and two goals in a 5-2 victory over Bossier-Shreveport on Saturday. The Valleyfield, Quebec native had a night to remember in the victory over the Mudbugs where he stopped 48 of 50 shots including all 24 shots he faced in the third period. Emond missed the first three weeks of the season with an injury but since his activation on November 10th, has gone 6-2-0 with a 3.51 goals against average. He has caught fire over his last three games going 3-0 allowing six goals on 114 shots (.947 save percentage). Emond went 28-8-0 with the Eagles last season helping them to the President's Cup.

In recognition of their achievements, both Butler and Emond will receive a special gift from Oakley.
