Rocky Mountain Rage News Release

LAST WEEK'S RECORD: 3-0-0 OVERALL RECORD: 15-2-2, 32 pts., 1st Place Northwest Division

Dec. 5 @ Wichita Thunder, 6-2 W - Tyler Butler tallied twice and Brent Cullaton added three assists as the Rage snapped a brief two-game winless skid. The team scored four times in a team-record 4:29 span of the second period to take a 5-0 lead and blow the game wide open.

Dec. 7 vs. Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, 5-4 SOW - After spotting the Mudbugs a 3-1 lead through 20 minutes, leading scorer Scott Wray spearheaded a three-goal second period that moved Rocky Mountain in front, 4-3, heading to the final period. After Bossier-Shreveport tied the game on the power play mid-way through the third and the teams remained tied after regulation and overtime, Wray notched the only goal for either club and goaltender Scott Reid stopped all five shooters he faced to deliver the victory in a shootout.

Dec. 8 vs. Wichita Thunder, 5-2 W - Tied at two entering the third, Butler and Trevor Weisgerber twice combined to set-up Cullaton with both the eventual game-winning goal just 28 seconds into the period and an insurance goal with five minutes remaining to run Rocky Mountain's record to 3-0-0 against Wichita this season.

BACK ON THE WINNING TRACK

After losing both of their games the week before, the Rage rebounded nicely with their three wins last week. They continue to lead the CHL in overall winning percentage (.842) and remain seven points ahead of the second-place Colorado Eagles atop the Northwest Division.

HOME SWEET BEC

Rocky Mountain is the only team in the league that has yet to lose in regulation on home ice as the club ran its team-record home unbeaten streak to 11 straight games (9-0-2) over the weekend. The Rage have out-scored their opposition, 52-29, at Broomfield Event Center this season.

"WRAY"ZOR'S EDGE

Scott Wray notched his first hat trick of the season and the team's fourth on Friday against the Mudbugs. The Rage assistant captain leads the CHL in scoring with 39 points, is second with 16 goals, and is tied for fourth with 23 assists as he is the only player in the league averaging more than two points per game.

CAPTAIN CULLATON

Rocky Mountain captain Brent Cullaton had a big week last week, recording eight points (2g-6a) over the team's three games. His totals included three assists against Wichita on the road before he dominated the re-match with the Rage's fifth four-point game (2g-2a) of the season on Saturday. Cullaton is second in the league with 27 assists and eighth in overall scoring with 31 points.

BUTLER CLIMBS THE RANKS

Assistant captain Tyler Butler continued a steady rise up the scoring rolls among league defensemen last week. The fifth-year pro is now ranked third in scoring among league blue-liners with 23 points (7g-16a) after putting together a seven-point week (4g-3a). His two goals against the Thunder early in the week included both a power play marker and the eventual game-winner; he notched his 100th career assist on Friday against the Mudbugs; and then on Saturday during the re-match with Wichita he recorded a short-handed goal and two assists.

SCORING STREAKS CONTINUE

Cullaton and Butler each extended their shared team-record scoring streaks to 12 consecutive games dating back to Nov. 9. The Rage captain has 25 points (3g-22a) over the course of the streak, while Butler has racked up 17 points (6g-11a) during the run. The streaks are currently the second longest in the league behind an 18-game effort strung together by Arizona's Tyler Redenbach.

BETWEEN THE PIPES

Goaltender Scott Reid was in goal for all three of the team's victories last week, running his record to 11-0-1 on the year. He is the only goaltender among the CHL's top 20 that has yet to lose in regulation, and his 11 wins are tied for first in the league. Plus, he and teammate Terry Dunbar are perfect in shootouts this season, having stopped all 11 shooters they have faced combined. Dunbar back-stopped the Rage to their first shootout win of the season back on Oct. 20 when he stoned all six Amarillo Gorillas that took their shot at him.

The Rage next return home to Broomfield Event Center on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 21 and 22, when they host the New Mexico Scorpions and Wichita Thunder, respectively, at 7:05 p.m. each night.

Single-game tickets for the 2007-08 regular season are on sale now with prices ranging from $18-$43 per seat (parking included).
