Rocky Mountain Rage News Release

Broomfield, Colo. - The Central Hockey League named Rocky Mountain Rage defenseman Tyler Butler its Oakley Player of the Week today for the period of Dec. 3 - 9. Butler is the third Rage player to win a league award this season, joining teammates Scott Wray (October Player of the Month) and Simon Watson (Player of the Week, Nov. 5 - 11).

Butler helped lead Rocky Mountain to a perfect 3-0-0 record last week by contributing seven points (4g-3a) and a team-best +7 rating. His totals included one power play goal, one short-handed goal, and the game-winning goal during a 6-2 win against the Wichita Thunder on Dec. 5. His assist on Dec. 7 during a 5-4 shootout victory over the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs marked the 100th assist of his five-year career.

Not only has the Rage assistant captain climbed to third in the CHL in scoring among defensemen with 23 points overall (7g-16a), he and captain Brent Cullaton are also riding shared team-record point-scoring streaks of 12 consecutive games dating back to Nov. 9. Butler has racked up 17 points (6g-11a) during the course of his run as he becomes the first blue-liner to garner Player of the Week honors in the league this season.

Rocky Mountain heads out on the road this week, traveling to face the Oklahoma City Blazers on Friday before visiting the Wichita Thunder on Saturday. The club then returns home to Broomfield Event Center on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 21 and 22, to square-off against the New Mexico Scorpions and Thunder, respectively, at 7:05 p.m. each night.

Single-game tickets for the 2007-08 regular season are on sale now with prices ranging from $18-$43 per seat (parking included).
