In AHL preseason action on Sunday:
PHILADELPHIA 3, NORFOLK 0
Finnish rookie Antero Niittymaki made 17 of his 25 saves in the third period to lead the Philadelphia Phantoms (1-1-0) to a 3-0 victory over Norfolk (0-1-0) in AHL preseason action at the Flyers SkateZone in northeastern Philadelphia on Sunday.
Niittymaki, a 1998 sixth-round draft pick by the Flyers, faced just three shots in the opening period while Mike Siklenka staked him to a 1-0 lead during a 5-on-3 power play just 4:16 into the contest.
Jack Baker and Ian Forbes also scored for the Phantoms, while defenseman Brad Tiley contributed two assists.
WORCESTER 2, BRIDGEPORT 2 (OT)
Dan Tetrault's third-period goal gave the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (1-0-1) a 2-2 tie with the Worcester IceCats (0-2-1) in an AHL preseason game played in Fitchburg, Mass., on Sunday evening.
Jean-Francois David opened the scoring with a power play goal for Bridgeport, and Igor Valeev and Chad Starling found the net for the IceCats.
