Bradenton Marauders News Release

Bradenton, Fla. - The Marauders (13-5, 48-35) and the Dunedin Blue Jays (6-12, 38-46) met for the final game of a three-game series at LECOM Park on a humid yet breezy Sunday afternoon on the Suncoast. The Marauders and Jays slugged it out across all nine innings, with Bradenton pulling away down the stretch to secure a 9-4 win and the series sweep over the Birds.

Marauders hurler Wilber Dotel got the starting nod from skipper Jonathan Johnston and put on a show for the nearly 500 fans in attendance. Dotel tossed 5.2 innings without allowing an earned run while striking out five and walking none. Dotel earned his second win of the season and fell just one out short of a quality start.

Bradenton started the game off with a bang offensively thanks to Termarr Johnson, who hit a near record-breaking 471-foot home run to right to put the home side up 1-0 after an inning played.

Johnson is enjoying his best form of the season, hitting around .500 in the last week with four home runs in that time.

The Blue Jays scored all four of their runs in the fourth inning of the game; three consecutive two-out hits saw Dunedin snatch a 4-1 lead, their largest of the series.

The Young Bucs quickly countered in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a clutch two-out bases-clearing double from Omar Alfonzo to tie the game at four a piece.

In the home half of the fifth, the Marauders took the lead. They blew the game open with a four spot with Rodolfo Nolasco, Josiah Sightler, Lonnie White Jr., and Omar Alfonzo all picking up RBI honors in the frame to make it an 8-4 contest with four innings to play.

The combined bullpen effort of Owen Sharts, Miguel Fulgencio, and Julian Bosnic held the Jays hitless in the final four innings of play.

After grabbing a run in the eighth, the Marauders got the brooms out when Bosnic set Dunedin down in order to seal the 9-4 victory in the ninth.

The Marauders currently sit first in the FSL West Division with 48 games to play in the regular season.
