Uncasville, CT. - Tonight, the Connecticut Sun (8-24) fell to the Atlanta Dream(21-12) 104-69 on Thursday night inside Mohegan Sun Arena.

Aaliyah Edwards led the Sun with 15 points, followed by Gianna Kneepkens with a career-high 10 points. Brittney Griner led on the boards with eight rebounds.

Brittney Griner got the Sun started offensively with a quick two and recorded her 900th career block immediately on the other end. Despite Griner's defense, Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray knocked down back-to-back shots to give Atlanta the 4-2 lead. Griner extended her range finding the bottom of the net from three giving the Sun a one-point advantage. Howard and Leger-Walker traded threes, but the Dream remained on top. Both teams battled offensively, but Naz Hillmon and Howard continued using their range to take an 11-point 25-14 lead. Lacan got on the board with three of her own, but Gray answered with her first three of the contest. The Dream took the first quarter 28-17.

Connecticut started the frame with Nell Angloma going 2-of-2 at the charity stripe closing the scoring gap. Consecutive trips to the line for both teams took over the beginning of the second quarter before Angel Reese tipped in her first bucket of the night. Gray converted the and-one opportunity, putting the Dream ahead 36-20. After a quiet first quarter, Aaliyah Edwards earned her first two points at the charity stripe following the foul by Gray. Gray and Lacan battled from behind the arc, but the Sun trailed 16. Following the turnover from Reese, Edwards dropped in an 18' jumper after the dish from Lacan. With two minutes left in the second, Leger-Walker and Rivers tallied three points before the end of the quarter. The Sun trailed the Dream 41-27 before the break.

Coming out of the half, the Dream went on a 7-0 run with Gray, Howard and Jordin Canada at the helm. Olivia Nelson-Ododa stopped the run driving to the basket for two. Capitalizing on the empty possession from Atlanta, Edwards used a 17' jumper to give Connecticut a boost offensively. Howard continued to find success from the three-point line as she extended the Dream lead, 66-36. Despite the deficit, Edwards continued to battle inside the paint finding the rim for two in back-to-back efforts. The Dream responded with Gray securing three points after converting the and-one opportunity, but it was Edwards with a jumper leading the Sun offense. Rookie, Gianna Kneepkens picked up her first points of the night on a quick fadeaway jumper, bringing the score to 77-47. Down the stretch, both teams were sent to the line for free throws, but the Dream remained ahead 81-51.

Kneepkens carried her momentum over from the third quarter and got the Sun started tipping in two to start the fourth. Okot, Canada and Gray combined for eight points extending their lead to 94-58. Kneepkens totaled six points with back-to-back three pointers eclipsing her career-high with 10 points and tying her season-high three-pointers made with two. Although the game was out of reach for the Sun, Rayah Marshall and Angloma combining for three points with one minute remaining in the contest.

Griner entered the 900+ block club in the first quarter.

Kneepkens recorded a career-high 10 points and tied her season high in three-pointers made.
