Summerside Storm News Release

(Summerside, PE) Following three days of a tryout camp in Manchester, New Hampshire, 14 players are on Prince Edward Island today to open the 2 nd season Summerside Storm training camp this morning at Slemon Park Canada Games Sports Centre.

Three players, Al Stewart from Chicago along with Canadians Chris Cayole and Doug McKinney, are back from last year's STORM team which means nine new faces will be wearing a STORM uniform.

STORM Head Coach Joe Salerno said the Manchester tryout camp went well with some nice surprises and a few disappointments. "We've come out of the tryout camp with a great mix of true veterans, experienced players and rookies and that's exciting," says Salerno, "and I can also see a real chemistry developing between our point guard, Al Stewart, and shooting forward Chris Cayole . As well, I was really pleased with the play of 6' 10" center Ayodokun Akingbade . I think he'll bring a veteran leadership to the team which we were lacking last season"

The STORM will hold two training camp sessions per day, from 9:30-11:30 am and 3:30-5:00pm, Monday to Wednesday along with Thursday and Friday in the mornings of this week. This coming Thursday the STORM will be at Westisle Composite High School in Elmsdale for an inter squad game starting at 7pm . All proceeds from this game will go to Westisle's Athletic Council. The team travels to Halifax this coming Sunday afternoon for an exhibition game against the Halifax Rainmen at the Metro Centre at 2pm .

On Friday evening between 7-9pm Storm players will be represented at Superstore in Summerside as tickets are being sold there for the STORMS Slam Dunk Charity Game October 26 th at Credit Union Place in Summerside . On Saturday the STORM will be at Superstore in Summerside and Charlottetown as Superstore sells tickets for the October 26 th game at all their locations throughout Prince Edward Island and with all proceeds from their ticket sales going to Prince Edward Island Boys and Girls Clubs.
