Belleville Bulls News Release

Growing up with a pair of older brothers in P.K. and Malcolm can no doubt be a tough act to follow, but Belleville Bulls blueliner Jordan Subban is showing the hockey world that he's got some record breaking talent.

The Vancouver Canucks prospect scored goals 20 and 21 of the season just 25 seconds apart on Saturday night, breaking a Bulls single-season franchise record for goals by a defenceman set by Shawn Lalonde (19) during the 2008-09 season.

Subban helped the Bulls pick up two key points in their quest to stabilize their place in the Eastern Conference standings, defeating the visiting Peterborough Petes 7-5 at the Yardmen Arena. Watch

"It's been in the back of my mind," said Subban following the milestone. "The guys made it easier for me and I was glad I was able to do it in a win too. Coming into the OHL, my main goal was to win a Memorial Cup - and it still is - but I wanted to make an impact too."

Bulls Head Coach George Burnett complimented his 19 year-old defenceman on his achievement. "It's awesome," he said. "He's now at the top of a long list of high-profile guys who've come ahead of him here, so that's a feather in Jordan's cap. A lot of those guys went on to play for a long time in the NHL."

Subban leads all OHL defencemen in goals with 21 on the year and is currently seventh in scoring among blueliners with 42 points (21-21--42) in 51 games.
