
Suarez, Ortiz Added to All-Star Game Roster

O'FALLON, MO - It was announced Wednesday afternoon that two additional Rascals have been named to the Rookie Team for the 2018 Frontier League All-Star Game July 11th at CarShield Field. Outfielder Kevin Suarez and LHP Jonny Ortiz will both represent River City at the Mid-Summer Classic, joining Rascals teammates Hector Hernandez, Mike Jurgella, Cody Mincey, Joe Iorio and JD Hearn. The duo were also college teammates at Nova Southeastern University, winning a National Championship with the Sharks in 2016.
Suarez is hitting .274 with 15 RBIs and has 13 stolen bases on the year, the third most in the league. The second-year man from Miami, FL is in the midst of a 14-game on-base streak, and recently saw a 10-game hitting streak come to an end.
Ortiz is 3-1 with a 2.70 ERA on the year in 20 total appearances, including a start last Sunday in Evansville. The Coral Springs, FL native is also in his second professional season, and has compiled 27 strikeouts and only four walks in just over 23 total innings this season.
