River City Rascals News Release

SCHAUMBURG, IL--The River City Rascals suffered a tough loss on Thursday night at Boomers Stadium, falling to the Schaumburg Boomers by a score of 15-5. The Boomers took the series 2-1, but the Rascals won the season series 4-2.

The Boomers got on the board in the first inning on an RBI triple from Ty Moore and a run-scoring single from Kenny Towns. The Rascals tied the game at two with a two-run blast to right-center from Paul Kronenfeld in the top of the second, but that would be the high-water mark for them on the night. The Boomers erupted with a seven-run bottom of the second, sending twelve men to the plate. The frame was highlighted by a two-run shot to right by Moore, who finished with three RBIs on the night.

The Rascals scored three in the fifth, on an RBI single from Kevin Suarez and a two-run homer from Clint Freeman. The Boomers then scored five more in the bottom of the fifth, punctuated by a bases-clearing double by Collin Ferguson, who also homered in the seventh.

Boomers starter Keaton Conner went 4.2 innings, allowing five runs in the no-decision. Reliever James Mulry (2-0) earned the win, pitching 2.1 hitless innings out of the bullpen. Rascals starter Ryan Orr (0-2) took the loss, allowing five runs in 1.1 innings.

The 15 runs was the most the Rascals have allowed this season and Schaumburg's 16 hits equaled a season-high allowed by the team.

The Rascals (26-22) travel back home after a nine-game road trip to take on the Joliet Slammers at CarShield Field tomorrow night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm CT.
