Strong Second Half Pushes Danger to 67-57 Win

GRAND ISLAND, NE - The Nebraska Danger used a strong second half rally to secure a victory over the Colorado Ice 67-57. Scoring 17 points in the third quarter proved to be the difference maker for the Danger.
The Danger fell behind early as Colorado jumped out to a 23-13 lead in the second quarter. Quarterback Jameel Sewell and running back Waymon James fought back with a pair of touchdowns to tie up the game at 36 heading into halftime.
"We always seem to start slow. Waymon and Sewell really shouldered the load for us tonight," said Danger Head Coach Mike Davis.
Nebraska's offense came out strong in the second half with a 21 yard touchdown run by James. Cody Thornton added a 37 yard field to stretch the Danger lead to 10 points. Both teams traded scores from that point on, but Colorado couldn't overcome the Danger's lead.
"Jumping out to a quick second half lead was perfect. Colorado didn't give up, so we had to keep fighting for the entire game," Davis said.
The Danger relied heavily upon the legs of James, who ran for 111 yards on 12 carries and five touchdowns. Sewell added another 51 yards on 12 carries and a pair of touchdowns, to go with 120 passing yards and a passing touchdown.
Nebraska will once again take on the Ice next Friday in Colorado before returning to Grand Island to take on the Wichita Falls Nighthawks on June 6th.
