
Strong Island Sound get first win

Strong Island Sound News Release
Rochester, NY. The ABA Strong Island Sound gained their first victory in team history defeating the Rochester Razorsharks 123-112 at the Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial in front of 1917 fans. The Sound had started off the season dropping their first two road contests.
The Sound started off fast and led by 11 points after the first quarter and 20 at the half. They controlled the ball in the closing moments to hold on for the win. Guard Charles Jones played in his first game with the team after recently signing with the team. Jones, who won consecutive NCAA scoring titles and played in the NBA for the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Clippers, brings valuable experience to the young team. He scored 15 points, had 10 rebounds, 12 assists and committed zero turnovers in 48 minutes played.
"We can play different positions," stated Jones. "And when players think that we are playing out of position, we can still play."
Long Islander John Strickland had another good game for his hometown team. He went 11 for 20 shooting for a game high 31 points along with nine for nine from the three point line, and eight rebounds in 40 minutes. Strickland, a 6'8" forward/center said, "We all play together..it is more us getting down on ourselves than the opponent getting ahead." Also for the Sound, Raphael Edwards had 29 points with 9 rebounds, Gary Willimas had 24 points and 6 steals.
Chris Carrawell led the Razorsharks with 25 pionts, James Reaves controlled the boards for the home team with 14 rebounds. The Sound look to even their record when they travel to the Centre Pierre-Charbonneau to face the 202 Montreal Matrix. The team has its home opener scheduled for Friday, November 25th at 7pm versus the Harlem StrongDogs at St. Joseph's College in Patchogue, Long Island.
