Milwaukee Wave News Release

Milwaukee, WI (March 19, 2006) - On Sunday, the Wave looked to build upon a two game winning streak with the Philadelphia KiXX in town. The KiXX came in looking to get closer to the fourth and final playoff spot. Milwaukee came away with a 6-1 victory because of a good defensive effort and steady offensive attack.

For the better part of the first quarter, the defenses kept the offenses under control. Neither team was able to break through until Eduardo Sebrango scored off a pass from Troy Dusosky at the 12:43 mark of the first quarter.

The second quarter followed much of the same pattern as the first. Jonathan Greenfield took a feed from Greg Howes near midfield and put a shot past KiXX goalkeeper, Peter Pappas with 7:06 left in the quarter. The Wave would take a 2-0 lead into halftime.

The Wave capitalized on a remaining power play from the first half when Marcelo Fontana found the net off a pass from Greg Howes. Milwaukee would score two more goals in the period. On a restart, Todd Dusosky set up Matt Schmidt for a score. Marcelo Fontana scored another power play goal off a pass from Alen Osmanovic with 3:30 left in the period. Philadelphia took one back when back when Drew Kopp forced a turnover in Milwaukee's half and fed Don D'Ambra for a goal, making the score 5-1.

The teams traded shots in the fourth quarter, but the KiXX weren't able to draw closer. The Wave made it a 6-1 game when Michael King posted up, took a long pass from Kyt Selaidopolous, and slid a shot past Peter Pappas for the final margin. The win is Milwaukee's third in a row and also extends the team's streak to 28 wins in row when allowing five goals or fewer. The Wave's one goal allowed represents a new season low for an opponent this season.

The Wave faces back-to-back games against the first place St. Louis Steamers on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's game (1:05 p.m.) can be heard on the Joy 1340 AM. Sunday's 1:05 p.m. game at the U.S. Cellular Arena is Milwaukee's final home game of the regular season. It will be fan appreciation day and Piggly Wiggly Family 4-Packs are available. All Wave games are broadcast on The Joy, 1340 AM and can be heard via webcast at www.MilwaukeeWave.com.
