Strachan Returns To Wranglers From AHL

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers ® announced today that defenseman Tyson Strachan has been returned by the Peoria Rivermen of the American Hockey League.

The 6-foot-3, 230-pound defenseman is expected to be in the line-up tonight when the Wranglers visit the Stockton Arena for Game 4 of the National Conference Quarterfinals against the Stockton Thunder. Las Vegas leads the best-of-seven-series 2-1.

Strachan left Las Vegas in January to join the AHL's Rivermen after posting a team-leading +17 through his first 25 professional games. Strachan scored twice and added seven assists for nine points with Las Vegas. Prior to his recall, the Melfort, SK native placed second on the team with 68 penalty minutes with the Wranglers. Strachan was selected as a member of the National Conference All-Star team but, was unable to play in the game due to his recall to the AHL.

With Peoria, the rookie defender suited up 34 times, scoring once and adding two assists for three points. Strachan also racked up 61 penalty minutes and a +5 rating with the Rivermen. Prior to turning pro, Strachan played four years at The Ohio State University. In 119 games with the Buckeyes, Strachan scored 13 goals and added 22 assists for 35 points. The 23-year old also added 87 penalty minutes during his four-year stay at Ohio State. Strachan was originally drafted by the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes in Fifth Round (#137 Overall) of 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

Game 4 of the National Conference Quarterfinals is set for 7:30 pm tonight in Stockton. The series remains in Stockton, CA for Game Five on Sunday, April 20th at 4:00 pm. The series will return to the Orleans Arena for Game Six and Seven. If necessary, Game Six would start at 7:05 pm at the Orleans Arena on Tuesday, April 22nd. If necessary, Game Seven will be on Wednesday, April 23rd at 7:05 pm at the Orleans Arena.
