Brandon, Manitoba - The MasterCard Memorial Cup Host Organizing Committee is pleased to announce that local singing star and former Juno Award Winner Amanda Stott will be back home in Brandon this May to perform at the 2010 Canadian Hockey League Awards Ceremony.

A limited number of tickets for this event, scheduled for Saturday, May 22nd, are now on sale at the Westman Centennial Auditorium box office. General admission tickets are $10 plus applicable taxes can be purchased by calling 728-9510.

The CHL Awards Ceremony, which will be hosted by Rogers Sportsnet, will feature the stars of Canadian Major Junior Hockey. A total of ten Awards will be presented including Top NHL Draft Prospect, Sportsman of the Year and the 2009-10 Scoring Champion. Among the other trophies to be awarded include Humanitarian, Scholastic, Coach, Rookie, Goaltender, Defenceman and Player of the Year.

Among last year's recipients were Brett Connolly of the Prince George Cougars, Saskatoon's Stefan Elliott as well as John Tavares and Cody Hodgson.

Amanda grew up on her family farm but her father was a saxophonist and pianist. She started singing in her church choir when she was just three years old and first gained prominence at the 1994 Dauphin CountryFest. Five years later, she was signed by Warner Music Canada and her first self-titled CD was released in 2000.

After a few years away from the spotlight, Amanda came back in 2004 with a new, more adult pop sound. Her single, "Paper Rain," from Women and Songs, Vol. 8 reached #1 on the Canadian Top 40 chart. On March 8, 2005, her second CD, Chasing the Sky, was released. It included "Paper Rain" and follow up singles "Homeless Heart " and "She'll Get Over It".

In 2006, Amanda stepped into a new arena of entertainment and toured North America with Cirque Du Soleil's production of "Delirium." After thirteen months of non-stop touring, she returned to Nashville where she lives today, focusing her attention on songwriting and working on her new CD, which is scheduled for later this year.

"I am extremely honored and excited to be a part of the Memorial Cup in my hometown," says Amanda. "Brandon holds a special place in my heart and what a great way to celebrate it by bringing such a prestigious event to our city. Hockey is definitely one of the heartbeats of our country and in May the country will be watching Brandon. I'm just excited to be able to be there to be a part of it and to watch it as well."

The CHL Awards Ceremony, presented by Manitoba Lotteries "Supporting our Communities" is one of four ticketed events associated with the MasterCard Memorial Cup. Others include the Opening Banquet to be held at the Victoria Inn on Thursday, May 13th as well as the two Saturday Night Socials inside the Molson Canadian Hockey House - Randy Bachman on May 15th and Tom Cochrane on May 22nd.

The MasterCard Memorial Cup will run from May 14-23rd in Brandon's Keystone Centre and will mark the Brandon Wheat Kings' fifth appearance in the National Championship. Brandon's last appearance was in Peterborough, Ontario in 1996.
