Birch Run, MI (December 29, 2004) â The Great Lakes Storm won the game tonight against the Rockford Lightning 121-111 (5.0, 2.0) to move to 11-9 on the season. The win puts the Storm in a first place tie with the Rockford Lightning as the top two teams in the Eastern Conference will battle again on Friday. Rockford moves to 10-7 on the season.
After a long road trip, the Storm was ready for some home cooking as they were 5-1 at home coming into tonight's action. Tommy Adams and Greg Stemping stepped up huge as they had 26 and 23 points respectively. They both filled in nicely for Trevor Huffman and Kasib Powell who did not play due to injuries. The Storm won the first quarter 35-32 behind nine points by Stempin. Rockford won the second quarter 35-33 behind seven points by Brian Lubeck however the Storm took a one point lead into the locker room. Boseman got hot in the third quarter scoring nine points and giving the Lightning the quarter victory 28-23. The Storm trailed by seven points with 7:00 to go in the game and made their big run highlighted by a driving lay-up plus one by Doug Smith which gave the Storm the lead for good. The Storm went 8-for-8 at the line in the last two minutes to secure the victory.
The Storm's next game is on Friday, December 31st against the Rockford Lightning. Tip-off is set for 7:05 at the Birch Run Expo Center.
